Key facts

  • U-Pack prices by the space you use, not by weight: per ReloCube, or per linear foot of trailer (5-foot minimum)2.
  • At your door you get up to three business days to load and three to unload. You arrange the parking1.
  • No room to park? Load at a U-Pack service center in about a day, up to $300 cheaper in some places3.
  • Delivery dates are estimates unless you add U-Pack Guaranteed5.

How a container move works

You do the packing and loading (or hire loading help separately), and the company moves the equipment. U-Pack drops it at your door, gives you up to three business days to load and three to unload, and you secure a place to park it1.

Why heavy loads come out cheaper. U-Pack charges for the space you use rather than the weight: you reserve ReloCubes and pay for the ones you fill, or pay per linear foot in a trailer2. Dense things like books and tools cost less than they would with weight-based pricing.

Check before you book: parking at both ends (a U-Pack trailer stands 48 inches off the ground and comes with a ramp), whether you can load in the window you get, whether delivery is a date or an estimate, and what storage costs if the new place is not ready.

What to check first
  • Where the equipment parks at both addresses
  • Whether you need U-Pack Guaranteed for a fixed date
  • Storage billing: every 30 days, items not accessible

What changes the price and the plan

  • How much space you fill

You pay per Cube or per foot of trailer, so pack tightly and measure big pieces first2.

  • Parking at both ends

No legal spot for the equipment? Service center loading avoids it and can lower the price3.

  • A date or an estimate

Standard transit times are estimates; Guaranteed delivery sets a date or a 1- or 2-hour window5.

  • Gap between homes

Storage is billed every 30 days from arrival, and you cannot reach your things while stored4.

Container questions

Can I keep my things in the container while I wait for the new home?

Yes. U-Pack offers storage in ReloCubes for as long as you need, or in a trailer for up to 120 days, billed every 30 days from arrival at the service center. Items are not accessible while in storage4.

Is the delivery date fixed?

Not by default. U-Pack says transit times are estimated unless you add U-Pack Guaranteed, which sets an exact date or a 1- or 2-hour window5.

Do federal mover rules apply to a container move?

The household goods rules in 49 CFR part 375 apply to household goods motor carriers. Ask the company, before you book, how it is registered and which paperwork it will give you; our mover rules guide lists what a full-service interstate mover must provide.
